Still no baby, we are just waiting.

Ready

We are ready for Kaiden. The crib looked so bare after I sent all the bedding home with Stacy last week, so I got busy and made mine. I had a bed skirt that we don't use on our bed anymore so I cut it down for the crib. I had the rubber ducky fabric left from making another crib sheet. The quilt was Nathan's - Aunt Grandma made it when he was born. The afghan is one I had made from leftover yarn from other projects. So Kaiden, whenever you are ready, we are ready for you.

More Memories

We are still waiting. I spoke to Nathan and Stacy last night coming home from a doctors' appointment. They are so ready for this to happen!

All of this brings back so many memories - waiting for Nathan to come. I remember that last week - I cleaned that house top to bottom - I dug up the garden - I walked - Judee and Linda took me shopping driving over bumpy railroad tracks - but he came when he was good and ready.

I have this picture of a few of Nathan's things that I had saved and gave to them at the shower. The big green frog is a quilt Judee made and gave to me on Mother's Day before Nathan was born. It hung on the wall in his room. The teddy bear was a shower gift from Nathan's granny, the music box a birthday present from her. The bank was a shower gift from Lynda. The day I found out Kaiden was on his way, I dug it out and started filling it with my change.
Will keep you all posted!

Waiting

We have been waiting for this little guy since June, but it seems harder at the end. I remember the last weeks before Nathan was born - the days when you swear you will be pregnant forever - the calls asking have you had the baby yet? Do people really think you will have the baby and keep it a secret. I know Stacy is uncomfortable and wants to have the baby now, but we all know Kaiden will come when he is ready and there is nothing we can do but wait.

And I promise, we will not keep him a secret!

Godparents

Nathan and Stacy selected John and Janice to be Kaiden's Godparents. We are so thrilled. We are so proud that they took the time to think this through and to pick someone who will truly be Godparents to Kaiden.

The sins of the fathers...

shall be vested on the children - or least the flamingos will. When Jen and Justin were married many of us blessed them with the gift of flamingos and they are now returning the favor!
Sorry, Stacy, at least it is a night light!

Baby Shower

Yesterday was the baby shower hosted by my friend Janice with help from her daughter-in-law, Jen. There was threat of snow and flurries were flying but the turn out was great. Suggested by Jen, Janice with help from John made the diaper cake centerpiece; floating rubber duckies in the punch another creative idea from Jen;
The happy couple with the real cake;

Nathan thought he was only coming to videotape the shower, but was enlisted in a game to see who could diaper the baby the fastest with interruptions from the phone. We made it harder with cloth diapers and diaper pins (who knew they were so hard to open). Nathan was prepared for the spray bottle when the baby was left uncovered.

Stacy won the contest not only in time but with style points - Nathan needs plenty of practice!

The presents were cute and adorable

and useful.
We all had a great time and all look forward to Kaiden's arrival! Great party Janice and Jen! Thank you!

2009

Happy New Year! The year Kaiden will be born! David and I went to the mall today so he could move around and exercise his knee. We went into all the baby stores and looked at all the cute little items. To our credit, we did not buy anything. That will wait until he is actually here and we know what size and what he needs. The baby shower is this weekend and Kaiden will be here before we know it.
