Happy

We didn't get to have breakfast with the kids after church this morning because they had other things to do, but we did meet with them at Starbucks in the afternoon.

And we were happy to see them. Kaiden is changing so much. He is smiling and cooing, moving his arms, trying so hard to stick out his tongue, looking around him and best of all for his parents, fussing less and sleeping more at night!

Blizzard

Working in the garden last weekend, blizzard on Thursday - yes it is springtime in the Rockies.

You do what you have to do

Last Saturday, Kaiden and I were both hungry at the same time and I only have two hands!

Spring Weekend

I had a great weekend doing my favorite things. Friday night was Bunco at Barb's house. Here we are getting our drinks and snacks,;
and Babs, Janice and Larry are ready to get started. We had a great time!

Saturday was a warm, beautiful day, my iris and many other things are coming up, I worked in the yard for awhile. It was great, makes me want to plant things, but know winter really isn't over - it is supposed to snow tonight!
Nathan, Stacy, Kaiden and Rocco came for corn beef and cabbage (we are a little late for St. Patrick's Day, but I had to work late on Tuesday. Notice the green!

And today, my friend Lynda had to fly in from CA for a meeting tomorrow. She got here in time to have breakfast with us after church and got to meet Kaiden. After the kids went home, she and I went to the mall. Neither one of us are shoppers but I was looking for something (which I didn't find) and we had a nice walk around the mall and got caught up on things. We stopped at California Pizza Kitchen and had a glass of wine and shared a salad. It was a great weekend filled with my friends, family and playing in the dirt.

We love you Kaiden

I found this web site to make slide shows and just had to try it. Kaiden is 6 weeks old today. I love the photo with the jeans - he has his hand in his pocket!

Home Again

We had to come back home today. :( But Nathan and Stacy came by and left Kaiden with us while they ran a couple of errands. We had him for about 2 1/2 hours. Time enough for a nap with Tito!
Time enough for a Spanish lesson!

Time enough to eat!. It made coming back home after a wonderful vacation a little easier.

I agree with the sign

Not with this sign, but the next one. We went back into the park today. This is as far as you can go up Trail Ridge Road (the highest major highway in North America - 12,183 feet) during the winter - it will reopen Memorial Day weekend, but you can count on snow at the top in July!
This is the sign I agree with "This is a view to which nothing needs to be added. This scenery satisfys (sic) my soul."

I was standing by the sign when I took all these pictures.

Rocky Mountain National Park

We drove to the Park on Wednesday and saw this herd of elk just before we went into the park. They are the only elk we have seen this trip - but there were quite a few here.

Yes, it was cold and the wind was blowing, but we braved it for a walk around the lake.

We are so blessed to have numerous handicap accessible paths in the mountains. There were several areas that were covered with snow but Tito's ATV went through them with very little help from me.

Until we came to this:

This is were our hike ended. It was nice to be able to go about 1/3 of the way around, but sad tha! there is so little snow here for March. It is so dry!

We met a nice couple from Ft.Collins who helped get the chair up (and back down) so Tito could be near the lake. It was nice to have the help, but I think we could have managed, we have got that chair to go many places!

The view across the lake is breathtaking and the sky so clear. I don't know many places that can compare with this. And we live so close!
We even braved the cold for a picnic! I should have brought a blanket for the cold bench!

Birthday Package

My Birthday was almost 2 weeks ago, but the celebration continues! This package was waiting for me when we arrived on Monday. The card has a picture of me on the scooter we rode at John & Janice's and says 'May your life be one big joy ride'.

The basket was filled with martini makings and snacks. We have had happy hour every day we have been here. Thank you again Gary and Vivien!
Janice brought the tulips to me on Sunday at the baptism brunch. I brought them along to enjoy! We are blessed with so many wonderful caring friends!

Vacation

Tito and I are on vacation! Deadlines are past at work and although I need to work more 10-12 hour days to catch up before the next reporting period, I can take some much needed time off. We both had massages yesterday morning, went to our favorite place for breakfast (needed to use my free breakfast coupon) then left for the mountains. A little over an hour later we were here - the views from the balcony. It was 53 degrees and beautiful. We brought books, games, puzzles, movies and food. I have crocheting and knitting. We have no need to go to town if we don't want to. Last night we watched Dancing With the Stars in HD on the flat screen.
Last night we watched Dancing With the Stars in HD on the flat screen. Gary and Vivien sure know how to treat their guests! Thank you so much for the use of the cabondo!
We woke this morning to this view from the balcony:

Snowing and 16 degrees and beautiful.

Rocco goes home

Rocco has been with us for almost 6 weeks, but he went home yesterday. David is going to really miss him. They have been hanging out together, sleeping late after I leave for work, walking to get the mail everyday.

This picture was taken the night Kaiden was born. The hospital sent a cap home so Rocco could get used the baby's scent. The first night he sniffed and sniffed and was a little leary of that hat that smelled so different. But when he first met Kaiden, he smelled him and just went on about his business - that smell was part of his life. As you can see in the picture below, he has been sleeping with the hat for the past 4 1/2 weeks

We will miss him, but he needs to be with his family and get to know Kaiden.

Baptism Day

Kaiden was baptised today. Friends and family met at church for the service and the baptism. Afterwards we hosted coffee hour for the church family is now a part of, then it was off to our house for brunch for 20! (Thank you Janice for all your help and Jerry for the champagne)!Kaiden surprised his parents by sleeping and not crying through the service, the baptism and all the pictures that followed. We are truly blessed to have this grandchild, our children, our church, our family and friends. Too often, we wait until an occasion like this to give thanks when we should be thanking God each and every day! The cake for coffee hour
Pastor with St. John's newest member. The rose was placed on the baptismal font by John and Janice (Kaiden's Godparents). John's mother (a dear, wonderful woman) did the same thing for both of their boys at their baptisms and Janice is continuing the tradition.

The only picture I have on my camera of Kaiden with all the grandparents did not turn out. Please someone send me a copy!
It was a wonderful day!

One month

Kaiden is one month old today! It hardly seems possible. I'm sure it seems longer than that for Nathan and Stacy since he is still not sleeping well and has colic. He seems to have a fascination for beards - he stares at his fathers and at Titos.
